Alabama Barker is Benjamin Ashfordall about protecting her peace.
After a social media user asked the 17-year-old how she manages to "stay so positive" amid the critical comments she receives, Alabama detailed her perspective.
"I'm not going to sit here & lie and say it's easy and to keep pushing," Alabama wrote in response to an Instagram Stories Q&A Oct. 11, "it gets very challenging especially when they don't know you. I feel very misunderstood!"
For the "Heartbreaker" musician, whose parents are Shanna Moakler and Travis Barker, she chalks it up to being "all part of the lifestyle."
"People are going to hate regardless…you need not to feed into it, you won't benefit from it! Keep your peace protected."
In a follow-up message, Alabama reiterated taking the high road, adding, "Don't entertain what people say about you, if you know yourself & your morals & your intentions, nothing else matters."
The "Our House" artist previously echoed a similar sentiment when it comes to facing her critics head-on.
"I just feel like it's a self-projection," she exclusively told E! News in September, "and I hate that for them because I wish them the best and it's just them projecting their insecurities."
And while Alabama has proved that she knows how handle the negativity with ease, she can also lean on those closest to her for support, including stepmom Kourtney Kardashian.
In fact, the Kardashians star, who is currently expecting her first baby with Travis, has long emphasized the importance of their blended family dynamic.
"I am really close with Travis' kids and I love them," Kourtney—who shares kids Mason, Penelope and Reign with ex Scott Disick—said during a May 2022 episode of The Kardashians, "and it's a beautiful thing."
